A day after the Minister of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Imkong L Imchen, said that the state government should also be consulted in the ongoing political talks, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and in-charge of Nagaland Dr K Jayakumar questioned as why Imchen had to plead to include the state government when it was the ‘right’ of the state government to be a participant in any such agreement.

Addressing a press conference at Hotel Saramati here on Tuesday, Dr Jayakumar questioned the integrity of the Framework Agreement signed between Government of India and NSCN (I-M) and said that Congress wants the contents of the agreement to be made public.
He said that the Congress party welcomed the agreement, but would support it only after the contents were made known.

He maintained that if Congress formed government in the coming assembly election, it would ask for the contents of the Framework Agreement to be made known to the state government.

The AICC secretary also responded to the Nagaland BJP unit’s refutation to his claims over the rise in attacks on religious minorities like killings and burning of Churches in India.

Reacting to the allegations, BJP unit had asked Dr Jayakumar ‘to produce specific proofs of where and when it occurred.
Justifying his claims that BJP has been acting to fulfill their communal agenda, Dr Jayakumar listed out 21 such instances. He said BJP has inserted its hands in a beehive without realising the consequences.

Stating that minorities were being victimized across the country, AICC secretary said at the hands of BJP backed agencies like RSS, VHP etc minorities were facing oppression.

With regard to cow vigilantes and Romeo Squad active in UP and others places, the Congress leader asked what law led to the creation of these units, which he termed as ‘gangs of scoundrels’. He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence and asked if he would allow others to form such gangs and harass RSS people?”

With regard to the celebration BJP was planning to organize on May 26, he said that BJP was only going to celebrate the failure of the government. He said BJP has failed people everywhere and has been unable to provide jobs or even “Rs 5 in the accounts of the poor against the promise of Rs 15 lakh”.

AICCC secretary also described DAN as the most corrupt government, which he said was even unable to make a proper mud road for the people of the state.

Jayakumar said it was a matter to wonder what the government of Nagaland had done with all the funds it had received during the UPA I and UPA II government. He said that the Congress has great scope as the party has remained intact unlike the NPF, which he said has been split into three groups. He said the split would affect their vote share.

Former chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh and Pradesh Returning Officer (PRO) for Nagaland, Nabam Tuki, also highlighted about the organization election of NPCC and constituted the in-charge of organization election, 2017 committee.

The programme was also attended secretary in-charge of AIMCC for North East India and West Bengal Jarjum Ete and former speaker, ET Ezung.
