The Mizoram Government has decided to launch awareness campaigns about coronavirus along the State’s border with Myanmar and Bangladesh as well as inter-State border areas, Health officials said in Aizawl.

An official said the decision was taken following constitution of a State-level task force on Monday. Mizoram shares about 810 km border with Bangladesh and Myanmar and also an inter-State border with Assam, Tripura and Manipur.

Mamit DC Dr Lalrozama, who heads the Mamit district-level task force on coronavirus, convened a meeting with officials on Monday to discuss the ensuing awareness programmes in the district.

The meeting directed the Mamit district officials to summon gram sabhas in border villages to spread awareness about coronavirus. It also suggested to the Chief Medical Officer at the district hospital to prepare necessary medical pamphlets, which will be distributed to villagers.
