 In the recently concluded 34th National Inter-University Youth Festival held in Chandigarh University, Punjab during  February 1 to February 5, 2019, a group of Cotton University students participated and won a number of prizes including first prize in the prestigious cultural procession competition. The other prizes include third prize in folk dance competition and fourth prizes in folk orchestra and western instrumental solo competitions. More than 100 universities from across India participated in the youth festival supported by Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi. The 27 member contingent was led by Muktikam Hazarika, faculty with the Department of Mass Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, Cotton University.

Earlier in the East Zone Inter-University Festival held in Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Bihar during 3-7 January 2019, Cotton University was adjudged over-all champion in the literary category. Apart from winning prizes in different categories, Cotton University was also bagged the first prize for performing Bihu under the folk dance category in the zonal fest.
