17th of March 2017 Coimbatore: 50 delegates from 14 countries; Russia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Sudan, Bhutan, Mauritius, Tanzania, Uganda and Syria, Fiji, Vietnam, Ghana, and Zimbabwe attended International seminar on educational Media and Technology seminar at Karunya University.
The department of Electrical Technology, Karunya University, in association with National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai organized an International Seminar on Educational and Media and Technology.
Dr. Shobha Rekh, HOD, Department of Electrical Technology welcomed the gathering. In the Presidential address, Dr. Joseph Kennady, Registrar, reflected on the surge of technology in imparting education and the need for teachers to understand and adapt to the changing times to impart education with technological aides for better transfer of knowledge. Dr. Malliga – Head, Centre for Educational Media and Technology, NITTTR, Chennai, in her keynote address gave the delegates an introduction about NITTTR and their work in the field of Education Technology and thanked Karunya University for this collaborative effort. The inaugural session came to a conclusion with the vote of thanks by Dr. Flavia Princess, Program Coordinator, Electronics and Media Technology. following which, the seminar continued on with the various sessions. The day-long seminar included talks on topics such as MOOC framework and Pedagogy, Why video for learning, ICT in Education (Mauritius), Online tools for effective E-learning and a visit to the facilities available in-house at Karunya University (including professional video and audio studios, smart classrooms, lecture capturing and editing tools) for a hands-on training in lecture capture, material distribution and e-learning.
