To the delight of many proud parents and brilliant students, the first batch of students of model residential school started functioning from Sunday with initial intake capacity of 14 students in Class VI and 24 students in Class IX in the hostels at Govt. Sec. School, Gandhi, East Siang District, Arunachal.

Out of 14 students in class VI, 11 students are girls while 11 out of 24 students in class IX are girls. Both students and parents were very happy and satisfied with the arrangements of the hostels and class rooms. The parents who escorted their wards to the schools expressed their thankfulness to the department and state government for establishing such model school as for parents of the villages getting admitted their wards in this school was a distant dream. They were overwhelmed that their wards are availing the facilities like that of a costly private school.

Earlier the school was formally inaugurated by Dr Madhu Rani Teotia, Secretary Education who was accompanied by Director Elementary Education on 11th September 2018. Dy. Director of School Education, Jongge Yirang, informed that, due to shortage of residential accommodation the full intake of students could not be accommodated this session.

He also informed that one lady teacher and one male teacher has been engaged as warden while three ladies and one man has been locally engaged as cook and night chowkidar on temporary basis. Besides daily teaching and learning classes, coaching facilities be also provided to the students, added Yirang who is leaving no stone unturned in furbishing and improving the education system of the district.
