While the entire people of Nagaland is frustrated for the poorest mobile and internet network in the country for over last seven years, the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) Government has decided to provide free WiFi hotspot application in the state capital and all Deputy Commissioner’s office across Nagaland.
According to official sources this was announced by the Adviser of Nagaland Information technology, Science & Technology and New & Renewable energy Mmhonlumo Kikon during the Nagaland Innovation Expo 2018 held at Kohima yesterday. The expo was organized by Kohima Science College Students Union at Jotsoma (KCSUJ) and sponsored by Department of Science & Technology and co-sponsored by Department of Higher Education. The facility will also be extended to Kohima Science College (Autonomous) at Jotsoma, three campuses of Nagaland University, Lumami, Kohima and Medziphema and all Deputy Commissioner’s offices of all the districts in Nagaland.

Kikon said the facility would be put into effect in some months time as setting up of necessary infrastructure would takes time. He said the facility is a special gift to students and the internet users as the Government want to address issue of concern by being sensitive to the needs of the people. Kikon also hoped that the students will get benefit from such facility as it was targeted at pushing them forward in their academic career.

Appreciating the initiation of Nagaland Innovation Expo, Kikon assured fullest support from the government side, adding that the government would support the initiative and make it as an annual affair in Nagaland. He was optimistic that the Expo would grow bigger, better and will have effect global base in the state in the days to come, the report said.

Meanwhile, the mobile and internet services of the BSNL and other all mobile service providers, the service went bad to worse in Kohima for last several months with very poor services informing that ‘all the lines of this route are busy,’ ‘not reachable now’ and others in mobile services and it takes hours to open the internet services. So far the BSNL authority is giving a deaf ear to the complaints and it seems BSNL has no intention to improve services in Nagaland.
