In a bid to provide better medical facilities for cancer patients, the existing MoU was renewed between State Cancer Society of Arunachal Pradesh and Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.

The MoU for assistance in procuring chemotherapy medicines has been renewed for another term of three years under the Chief Minister’s Free Cancer Chemotherapy Scheme. This move of the State Government led by Hon’ble CM Pema Khandu taken in May 2017 State Cabinet has benefited hundreds of cancer patients in the state. Under the scheme APST and regular state govt employees and their dependents suffering from cancer are provided free chemotherapy medicines worth upto Rs. 10 lakhs per patient per annum at Tertiary Cancer Centre, TRIHMS, Naharlagun. Total number of beneficiaries for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 are 455 and 633 respectively.

This scheme has provided a great relief in minimizing the out of pocket expenditure of cancer patients. The other arms of treatment viz. surgery and radiation therapy are provided free of cost too under CMAAY.

The people of Arunachal Pradesh appreciated the move by the state government for renewing the scheme for the benefit of the common people.
