Three teams are now tied on points at the top of the table after Delhi Dynamos shared the spoils with Atletico de Kolkata 1-1 in a Hero Indian Super League clash in Delhi on Saturday.

The draw helped Delhi Dynamos take their points tally to 15 from nine matches, the same as FC Pune City (10 matches) and FC Goa (9 matches), both of whom are above them with a better goal average of plus one. Atletico de Kolkata are just a point behind in fourth position but the visitors will be disappointed that they allowed Richard Gadze to equalize in the 61st minute after Iain Hume had given them a 27th minute lead.

Atletico de Kolkata coach Antonio Lopez Habas left marquee player Helder Postiga on the substitutes bench as the Portuguese striker was yet to regain full fitness. The visitors, though, it appeared would not need the services of the star striker as Hume was doing an admirable job up front and even managed to put his team ahead in the 27th minute.

The goal was a result of a rare error from Delhi Dynamos goalkeeper Toni Doblas. Jaime Gaivilan sprayed a pass across for Rino Anto on the right and the full-back crossed the ball into the box where Doblas tried to stop the ball but only ended up providing it on a platter for Hume, who struck and scored with a ferocious close-range left-footer.

Atletico de Kolkata were threatening after the goal and could have scored an insurance goal through Shaikh Jewel Raja whose long ranger however missed the target narrowly. Delhi Dynamos coach Roberto Carlos sensed that something was not right with his team and immediately swung into action by introducing Richard Gadze for Gustavo dos Santos. The Ghanaian striker soon equalized with a gem of a goal.

In the 61st minute, Florent Malouda played a ball for Gadze just inside the box and the Ghanaian striker did well to turn around his marker Augustine Fernandes and then hammer a left footed shot straight into the top corner of the net. A minute later, Malouda provided another inch-perfect ball for S. Doungel, who chested the ball and lobbed it over the onrushing goalkeeper, only for the ball to go wide.

Gadze was the most influential player for Delhi Dynamos and could have so easily struck the match winner in the 77th minute but his shot from inside the box came off the far post. The rebound fell again to him but his second attempt was wide of the target.

Gadze in fact did manage to ‘score’ in the 90th minute but the assistant referee had his flag up for offside.
