The Central government has enlisted 17 iconic sites to visit in India. The Kaziranga National Park of Assam, the home to one-horned Rhino becomes one of the iconic sites as the center includes its name in the coveted list. The National Park is also the only site to be enlisted from the entire Northeast region.

The government of India has created the list to transform these 17 sites into world-class destinations to boost tourism influx and attract more tourists from across the world, informed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget 2019.

The 17 iconic sites include various tourist destinations from 12 states of India. The Taj Mahal in Agra, Ajanta-Ellora caves in Maharashtra, Qutub Minar and Red Fort in Delhi, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, Fatehpur Sikri in Agra are some of the places that are enlisted by the government.
