Demanding a special state Assembly session to discuss the Naga Framework Agreement, women folks under the aegis of United Committee Manipur on Tuesday stormed the residences of deputy chief minister, Y. Joykumar and the quarters of MAHUD minister, Th. Shyamkumar and works minister, Th. Bishwajit.

Police blocked the agitators from entering their residences and quarters but later few representatives of the protesters were allowed to enter the residences and quarters to submit memorandums regarding their demands. However, they were unable to meet all the three ministers, as they were not present at their respective residence and quarters.

The memorandum stated that the people of the state have denounced the state government for failing to discuss the Naga Framework Agreement issue in the recently held monsoon session of the Assembly in order to appraise the Centre.

It also demanded to take a resolution in the House to press the Union Home Minister for an exact answer to the outcome of the Framework Agreement.

Speaking to media persons, Aapunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president, Ph. Sakhi said it has been told that the framework agreement will not hurt the interest of the state but the official statement of providing a special status for the Naga community in the state is very unfortunate, and it is not acceptable by the people of the state.

Extension of Article 371 (A) to the state with the motive to integrate Naga inhabited areas will create a big chaos in the state, which is the home of different communities, she added.

It is very unfortunate that the Centre does not care about the interest of the state in depressing NSCN-IM, continued Sakhi.

The women folks warned that the people of the state are all set to take up intensive forms of agitation if the state government fails to fulfil the people’s demands.
