Amid political crisis in Nagaland some unidentified miscreants set on fire two vehicles in the heart of Kohima on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred around 7:40 pm near Hotel Vivor in Kohima, where supporters of TR Zeliang who are opposing the leadership of chief minister Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu are being housed.

According to the Kohima police, a Maruti Omni van and a Maruti 800 were burned at 2 different locations near the hotel.

Kohima Police got the report of burning of the vehicles and immediately rushed to the spot, but there was no clue who set on fire the vehicles.

However, police investigating the case whether it has any relation with the present political crisis in the state or it was any personal vendetta.

Some 43 MLAs, both NPF and Independent MLAs, opposing the leadership of Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu are lodging at Hotel Vivor after they had returned from the Kaziranga resort in Assam.

The police said that placards bearing incendiary message apparently targeted at the dissident camp were also found at the site.
