Assam BJP on Sunday decided to give ticket to missing leader Dr Ranoj Pegu for contesting the bypolls in Dhemaji assembly constituency next month.
Before joining, BJP Pegu, was the chief executive member of the Mising Autonomous Council, he was the unanimous choice of the central election committee of BJP. The committee headed by Union Health & Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda on Sunday conveyed its decision to select Pegu as its candidate for the by-election.
The by-elections in Dhemaji scheduled to be held on April 9 has been necessitated following election of Pradan Baruah as the BJP MP from Lakhimpur constituency. Baruah was earlier elected as MLA from Dhemaji constituency in the assembly elections last year.
