In a landmark development, the Mizo People’s Convention (MPC) which is the apex body of the Mizo cummunity in Manipur,  visited Jampui Hill on the 20th March 2019. Interestingly, the Mizo Convention (MC) of Jampui Hill plays host for the four member visitors: Vanlalrinliana, President; LZ Fanai, Secretary Home; Lalzuithanga, Secretary I&P; and Paul Lalchhanhima, Secretary External.   The MC and the MPC had bilateral discussions on various subjects ranging from organisational learning, sharing of best practices and benchmarking. The two parties also discussed about their respective activities, achievements and challenges faced by each of them and how to help each other in mitigating those challenges using the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) principle.   The discussion focused strongly on building up of greater integration of the Mizo tribes living in Myanmar, Bangladesh and in different states of India, through the use of various common platforms.   LZ Fanai, Secretary Home, MPC, reaffirms that, “These geographical international and state boundaries become irrelevant for the Mizos across the globe as long as we are united by a common goal of creating an economically, politically and culturally strong Mizo society. For that matter, the security and progress of our brethrens in Jampui Hill is vital in order for them to continue fulfilling their share of contributions to the community”.   Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau, General Secretary of Jampui Mizo Convention thanked the MPC team for their visit and specifically for extending their unreserved support of the Mizo Convention’s longstanding demand of Jampui Mizo Autonoumous Regional Council as per the provision of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
