Congress president Rahul Gandhi said he was confident “love is going to win” in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, which he said was a fight between hate and love. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi used hatred, we (Congress) love. And, I think love is going to win,” Rahul Gandhi told reporters in New Delhi after casting his vote at the NP Senior Secondary School in Aurangzeb Lane.

Gandhi walked to the polling both from his Tughlaq Lane home. Clad in his trademark kurta-pyjama, Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by the Congress’s New Delhi candidate Ajay Maken.

After casting his vote, Rahul Gandhi spoke to reporters some distance away from the polling booth. Asserting that the Lok Sabha election was a “good fight” between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party rival parties, Gandhi said he thought that “love is going to win”.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi used hatred, we (Congress) love. And, I think love is going to win,” Rahul Gandhi told reporters.

“There are four issues in this election, these are not our issues but people’s issues. And most important among these is of unemployment. Then, condition of farmers, demonetisation, Gabbar Singh Tax (mocking GST), corruption and the Rafale issue,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Delhi voted today as part of the sixth and the penultimate phase of the Lok Sabha election 2019. The Rahul Gandhi-led Congress, which won just 44 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, is hoping to revive its fortunes in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and deny Prime Minister Narendra Modi a second term in office.

The final phase of voting in the 2019 Lok Sabha election will be held on May 19. Counting in the Lok Sabha election 2019 will begin at 8am on May 23
