As a prelude to the 100th year of Christianity in Mishilimi celebrations scheduled for 2021, Churches of Mishilimi village on April 27 organized a traditional stone pulling ceremony which saw the participation of thousands of people, covering around 5 kms via Pughoboto town.

The stone, donated by Er. Vikuto Pulumo Sheqi, will later be erected at the compound of Baptist Church, the first Church in Mishilimi, established in 1921.

The ceremony was attended by thousands of people from Mishilimi village under Pughoboto sub-division in Zunheboto district.

Mishilimi is one of the biggest and first Christian villages in Zunheboto district and is credited with spreading the gospel of Christ among the Sumis.

Shikhuli Sheqi, wife of Tuyizubonu from Mishilimi village, was the first woman evangelist from the Sumi community. She was an evangelist from 1938 to 1956.The first person to receive baptism was Pilitha in 1921.

The dedicatory function of Saturday’s program was chaired by Head GB, Tokiye Wotsa and the Almighty’s blessing was invoked by Rev. Vitoshe Wotsa.

Mishilimi Village Council chairman, Khulu Wotsa also addressed the gathering.

All Churches in Mishilimi are uniting to mark the significant milestone in a befitting manner.

The village is also one of the pioneers of the Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC) in the State.
