North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) is taking every effort to correct the deficiencies for the recognition of the post-graduate courses which have been derecognised by the Medical Council of India, this was informed by NEIGRIMS authority.

In response to a news report in this regard, NEIGRIHMS in a statement said, “Two seats each of the post-graduate courses in the departments of Radio Diagnosis and General Surgery and two increased seats in the department of Anaesthesia are permitted seats granted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.”

The statement further asserted that the institute is making every effort to address the deficiencies following which the matter will be taken up for recognition with MCI as per procedures.

Denying that NEIGRIHMS is collapsing, the statement pointed, “Inspection of regulatory bodies is a routine task and part of the process that every institution has to undergo. Any deficiencies pointed out during such inspections, which can be addressed, are normally addressed by the institutions within the time frame provided.”
