On 10th March, the Nationale Institute for Civil Services Examination (NICSE), organized this year’s edition of “Dreamathon- North East 2019”, at Vivekananda Kendra, Uzanbazar in Guwahati. NICSE is one the premier coaching institutes in Northeast which has successfully produced Bureaucrats over the last 6 years. Dreamathon is an exclusive workshop organised by NICSE every year for the Civil service aspirants.Through Dreamathon, NICSE aims to motivate the youth of NORTHEAST and offerthem a chance to directly interact with bureaucrats and experts who can guide them with all the necessary strategies and tools to systematically approach the examination in an efficient way.

The three-hour long program began at 4:30 pm, in the presence of over 100 participants who came from various colleges of the city. The evening was graced by Mr. Vinod Seshan, the third rank holder of UPSC CCE- 2007, who was also the guest of honour of the event. Mr. Seshan is currently serving as the State Project Director of ARIAS Society. He was felicitated by the Director and CEO of NICSE, Mr. Suman Saha. The event began with the lamp lighting ceremony and was followed by a speech by Mr. Seshan. He shared his insights on why students should choose civil services today and how it can help them make a positive change in society. He also talked about the techniques of preparation where he stressed on perseverance. He said that “UPSC tests candidates’ patience and this makes UPSC examination unique”.

The enthusiastic queries that were put forward by the participants was a clear demonstration of the interest students have towards civil services in the state. Mr. Seshan’s speech was followed by a session held by Mr. RoshinulAlom who is a guest faculty at VisionIAS and NICSE. He focused on the answer writing techniques for the Mains examination of the UPSC. He shared many important tips regarding the exam and explained how content in the newspaper needs to be filtered and studied keeping the examination in mind.

Another ex-faculty of Vision IAS, Mr. Ankur Rai, who has recently joined NICSE as faculty of Polity also took a session on the strategies and techniques to clear the preliminary examination of the UPSC. While answering the query of the participants regarding why Engineering and Medical students make it easily to the merit list instead of students studying Humanities Mr. Rai stated, “the difference is in their approach and how answers are framed in a crisp and practical manner, not in intelligence”.

At the end, the Director and CEO of NICSE, Mr. Suman Saha delivered an inspiring lecture to uplift the spirits and morale of the aspirants. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Miss Chandra Goswami, the Assistant General Manager, NICSE.
