The Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sivasagar, Assam has reinforced night curfew from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am in the 5 km belt in Assam side of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland state with effect from May 22 for a period of 60 days. ADM, Sivasagar in an order said night curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of anti-social elements/extremist/unlawful activities coming across the Assam/Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district.

The order stated that movement of any person/ group of persons/any vehicular traffic are prohibited during the period of the curfew. However, magistrates, security personnel of army/CRPF/Police and civil officials deployed on duty are exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order.
