All & Sundry, a nonprofit making voluntary organization, launched a sanitary pad bank for the needy ones on July 30th in Golaghat, Assam. The first sanitary pad bank in Northeast India is purely for the needy ones who are from the remote areas and border conflict areas.

Abhishek (Boney) Singha, Founder Chairperson of All & Sundry initiated the campaign christened as, “The White Revolutuion: A Sanitary Pad Bank for the Needy Ones…” in support of the ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ theme.

According to the Founder Chairperson of All & Sundry, 23% of girls in India drop out of school when they start menstruating due lack of access to menstrual hygiene products. This in turn drives up probability of child marriage. Use of unhygienic products also leads to related illness. Social taboos around menstruation also hinder healthy conversation. The Founder Chairperson of the NGO further stated that according to the 2015-2016 National Family Health Survey, 57.6% of Indian menstruating women use sanitary napkins. The rest, a majority of who reside in rural areas, often use clothes and cloth pads (reusable) for the purpose. Many even bleed freely, without using any supportive apparatus.

The launch was attended by the President of All & Sundry, Doctors, Lecturers of Debraj Roy College, Leading citizens, Sub Editor of Prag News, Apolitical activists and Officials.

The sanitary pad bank is striving to make the menstrual product available as per women’s demand and also accepts sanitary pad packets donations from well-wishers and positive minds.

The distribution of sanitary napkins would be a primary agenda of The White Revolution campaign. In a laudable move, All & Sundry along with The Assam Valley School: School Partner and Prag News: Associated Partner of the dignified campaign will donate free sanitary napkins timely in the remote areas and border conflict areas in order to reduce the absenteeism of girls in schools during their periods, adding the move follows growing concerns over personal hygiene of girls attaining puberty.

In order to run the campaign smoothly, the Founder Chairperson of All & Sundry already framed an ‘Advice-giving’ board.

Professors, Doctors, Leading citizens, Professionals from different backgrounds and Media personals are the: Advisers, Executive Members and Members respectively.

To break the wrong opinions and myths especially in the adolescent girls concerning menses, it is a must initiative stated by the Founder Chairperson of All & Sundry.
