Itanagar, Nov 14: The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF) are conducting a large-scale integrated multi-domain combat exercise in the high-altitude Himalayan region of Arunachal Pradesh to assess joint operational readiness and precision strike capabilities, a defence official said on Thursday.

General Officer Commanding of 3 Corps Abhijit S Pendharkar reviewed the ongoing exercise and noted the high level of coordination and combat preparedness demonstrated by the participating formations.

The exercise, which began on November 10, includes the deployment of advanced surveillance platforms such as UAVs, helicopters, space-based assets, and special forces teams to enhance domain awareness and identify simulated targets. The drill is scheduled to conclude on November 15.

According to Guwahati-based Defence Spokesperson Mahendra Rawat, identified targets are being neutralised using coordinated joint firepower, including long-range rocket systems, medium artillery guns, armed helicopters, swarm drones, loitering munitions, and kamikaze drones operating in an electronically contested environment.

The current exercise builds on previous multi-domain drills, including ‘Poorvi Prahar’ in November last year and ‘Prachand Prahar’ in March this year, both focused on integrated air-land operations.

Rawat said the exercise aims to validate joint planning, command structures, and the coordinated use of surveillance and firepower assets across the Army, Air Force, and other services, covering the full spectrum of conflict. He added that it highlights the armed forces’ focus on jointness, precision operations, and technological capabilities to address emerging threats along India’s strategic frontiers.
