Itanagar, July 12: A curfew has been imposed in Roing, Arunachal Pradesh, due to a tense situation following a mob lynching incident on Friday. The incident occurred when a man accused of sexually assaulting several minor girls was dragged out of police custody and beaten to death by an enraged mob. To maintain law and order, four companies of additional security forces have been deployed in Roing town.
According to SP Lower Dibang Valley, Ringu Ngupok, the situation in Roing town remains tense but is under control. Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung is in constant touch with administration and police officials, while IGP P. N. Khirmey is camping in Roing to monitor the situation closely. The district authorities have invoked Section 144 CrPC to prevent further deterioration of law and order.
The Mount Carmel Mission School, where the alleged molestation took place, has been permanently closed by the District Administration. Investigations are underway into both the molestation allegations and the circumstances leading to the mob violence. Officials have urged citizens to maintain peace and allow the law to take its course.
