Guwahati, July 15: The first-ever grassland bird survey in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park has recorded 43 bird species, including one critically endangered, two endangered, and six vulnerable species, Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said on Monday.
Sharing the update on X, the minister also highlighted the presence of several regionally endemic species in the survey.
He stated that the Brahmaputra floodplain ecosystem supports the highest diversity of grassland obligate birds in India, reflecting the park’s ecological richness and effective conservation efforts.
