Indian Railways is set to introduce nine new Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Assam and West Bengal with several parts of the country, including northern, western and southern India. The new services are expected to be flagged off within a week, further expanding the network of affordable, non-AC long-distance trains.

With the addition of these nine services, the total number of operational Amrit Bharat Express trains will increase from 30 to 39. The new routes will provide direct and affordable connectivity from the eastern and sub-Himalayan regions to states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, easing long-distance travel for passengers.

The Amrit Bharat Express has been designed to offer non-AC sleeper class travel at affordable fares, with an approximate cost of ₹500 per 1,000 kilometres. The fare structure does not include dynamic pricing, making the service accessible to a large section of passengers, particularly migrant workers, students and families.

The new Amrit Bharat Express routes are:

1. Guwahati (Kamakhya) – Rohtak
2. Dibrugarh – Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)
3. New Jalpaiguri – Nagercoil
4. New Jalpaiguri – Tiruchirappalli
5. Alipurduar – SMVT Bengaluru
6. Alipurduar – Mumbai (Panvel)
7. Kolkata (Santragachi) – Tambaram
8. Kolkata (Howrah) – Anand Vihar Terminal
9. Kolkata (Sealdah) – Banaras
Trains originating from New Jalpaiguri will connect North Bengal directly with southern India, including Tamil Nadu, while services from Alipurduar will link the Dooars region with major industrial and metropolitan centres in southern and western India. The new routes are expected to play an important role in supporting long-distance travel for employment, education, trade and family purposes.

Services connecting eastern and northeastern India with cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai are expected to improve workforce mobility and access to major industrial, IT and education hubs. Routes passing through Odisha and Andhra Pradesh will also strengthen connectivity along the eastern corridor.

The Amrit Bharat Express trains are equipped with modern passenger amenities, including foldable snack tables, mobile and bottle holders, radium floor strips, improved seating and berths, modern toilets with electro-pneumatic flushing, fire suppression systems, facilities for divyangjan passengers, fast charging points and pantry cars.

Indian Railways aims to expand affordable long-distance connectivity through the Amrit Bharat Express, offering improved comfort and reliability for non-AC passengers while catering to high passenger demand on long-distance routes.
