The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has shut down RB Store, a popular bakery in Shillong, for allegedly using newspapers in the baking process of bread and cakes, violating food safety regulations, officials said on Wednesday.

In a wider crackdown on unhygienic food practices, four more establishments — Arun Hotel, Maa Kali Hotel, and two fast food outlets — were also ordered to close for non-compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
