Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today launched the Cashless Payment System for Transport Services along with the implementation of electronic Driving Licences (eDL) and electronic Registration Certificates (eRC) at Raj Bhavan, Imphal.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Transport Department, aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and public convenience by introducing fully digital transactions for transport-related services.
With the new system in place, citizens can now pay transport-related fees digitally through POS terminals and online platforms, enabling a seamless and contactless experience. Driving licences and vehicle registration certificates can also be accessed through the DigiLocker and mParivahan mobile apps, eliminating the need for physical documents.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bhalla lauded the Transport Department’s efforts and emphasized the role of digital innovation in ensuring good governance. The Secretary of Transport highlighted that 32 services from the national Parivahan Sewa portal are currently available in the state, with plans to add more in the near future.
