Amit Sharma, IAS, Secretary of the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and Cooperation Department, Government of Mizoram, visited Siaha on Thursday to assess ongoing initiatives and interact with district officials.

The meeting, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Abraham Beirazi Khithie, began with a brief overview of the district. The ADC highlighted Siaha’s potential, existing challenges, and developmental needs, expressing hope for meaningful outcomes from the Secretary’s visit.

During the session, Secretary Sharma shared insights from his surprise visit to the District Hospital earlier in the day, describing it as impressive and encouraging other departments to adopt similar proactive approaches. He emphasized the state government’s push for digital transformation through the implementation of e-Office systems aimed at achieving paperless governance, including at the block level.

Extensive discussions were held with heads of various departments, where officials outlined their achievements, action plans, and challenges. The Secretary assured that necessary support would be extended to resolve the issues raised.

Sharma also underlined the importance of promoting tourism in Siaha, noting the district’s scenic beauty and its potential to boost the local economy. He urged officials to explore tourism opportunities as a means of generating revenue and enhancing development.

The Secretary was accompanied by H Vanhlupuia, Deputy Registrar, Cooperation Department; Lalengzuala, Informatics Officer, ICT; and Lalmuanawma, Database Administrator, MEeGS.
