She also detailed ongoing efforts such as GI tagging, innovative packaging, and digital marketing, stressing that ODOP in Sikkim is a people-led movement focused on sustainability and pride.
Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, in his keynote address, highlighted the importance of ODOP as a district-driven initiative celebrating India’s local strengths. He described it as a platform that transforms local economies and connects communities with national and global markets.
General Manager of Soreng District Industries Centre, Anula Gurung, participated in the panel discussion on the future of ODOP, alongside representatives from Assam, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Kerala, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Delhi. She reiterated Sikkim’s integration of ODOP with eco-tourism and homestay models, enhancing both rural entrepreneurship and visitor engagement.
The ODOP Awards 2025 selection process was conducted by DPIIT through a multi-tier evaluation based on criteria including innovation, value chain development, branding, market linkages, export performance, and community participation.
Sikkim’s recognition at the national level reflects its efforts in promoting district-level products such as Large Cardamom (North), Temi Tea (South), Ginger and Mandarin Oranges (East and West), while advancing organic farming, value addition, and sustainable rural development.
