Tripura Bhushan Award 2026 to Late Biswa Bandhu Sen during Statehood Day Celebrations

Agartala, January 20, 2026: The Government of Tripura has announced the list of recipients of the Statehood Day Awards 2026, which will be conferred during the Full Statehood Day celebrations on January 21, 2026 at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala city.

Among the highest honors, the Tripura Bhushan Award (posthumous) will be presented to former Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, late Bishwabandhu Sen. The award will be handed over to his widow during the ceremony.

The Tripura Bibhushan Award (posthumous) will be conferred on noted educationist late Dhirendra Chandra Dutta, while acclaimed scriptwriter Biplab Goswami will also receive the Tripura Bhushan Award.

Other major recognitions will include the Sachin Dev Burman Memorial State Award, which will be presented to folk artist Surya Kumar Debbarma (Sadagar); the Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi Memorial State Award, which will go to Champa Das of Kamalghat; and the State Award for Science and Environment, which will be conferred on Dr. Arijit Das, Associate Professor and Head of Department at Bir Bikram Memorial College.

In addition, several Statehood Day Awards will honor citizens across diverse fields. The Good Citizen Award will be presented to Gautam Das of Purba Pratapgarh. The Best Startup Entrepreneur Award will go to Atkalapa Biotechnology LLP of Nagicherra, while the Best Agriculture and Horticulture Entrepreneur Award will be given to Dhanbabu Halam of Simbukchak village, Salema. The Best Fisheries Entrepreneur Award will be conferred on Krishna Debbarma of Mohanbhog, Sepahijala, and the Best Animal Husbandry Entrepreneur Award will go to Ratan Debnath of Bishramganj.

The Best Beekeeping Entrepreneur Award will be presented to Uttam Kumar Das of Teliamura, and the Best Industrial Enterprise Entrepreneur Award will go to Deepak Dutta of Kanchanbari, Fatikroy. The Best Mobile App Developer Award will be conferred on Satyabrata Biswas of Purba Yogendranagar, while the Best Cooperative Society Award will be presented to Tulamura PACS Ltd. of Gomati district.

Further, the Best Educationist Award will honor Laxman Malakar of Belonia, and the Best Sportsperson Award will be conferred on Sriparna Debnath of Natinagar.

The awards, instituted to mark Tripura’s Full Statehood Day, recognize outstanding contributions across education, arts, science, entrepreneurship, sports, and social service.
