Agartala, July 14, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday said that the state’s socio-economic development can be significantly boosted by strengthening the tourism industry. He was speaking at the foundation stone laying and ground-breaking ceremony of the ‘51 Shakti Peeth Park’ at Banduwar in Udaipur.

“This project will not only promote our religious and cultural heritage but also lead to economic growth. It will help create employment, boost local businesses, and strengthen the state’s GDP,” said Dr. Saha. The Rs 97.70 crore project is being implemented with financial assistance from the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation.

Highlighting the state’s progress, he added, “Our government is committed to holistic development—be it infrastructure, education, health, or raising rural incomes. Tourism is a key driver in this journey.”

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for world-class tourist destinations in every state, Dr. Saha said, “Our PM has emphasized the importance of developing iconic tourism hubs. The 51 Shakti Peeth Park is a step in that direction.”

He urged all stakeholders to maintain the highest quality in construction and execution of the park. “People across the globe should be able to connect with our heritage through this initiative. The park will showcase not just our spiritual significance, but also the diverse tribal culture of Tripura.”

The Chief Minister also revealed that various other projects worth Rs 674 crore have been inaugurated or started between January and June 2025.

The event was attended by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, local MLAs and other dignitaries. A logo of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation was also unveiled at the event.
