Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Launches New Industrial Initiatives and Reforms

Agartala, July 14, 2025: The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (TIDC) has unveiled a series of transformative initiatives to revamp and strengthen the industrial ecosystem of the state. As part of the state government’s broader push for industrial growth, these steps were presented during a press conference held at the TIDC office in Agartala on Monday.

The announcement led by the the Chairman of TIDC Nabadal Banik detailed numerous measures aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship, simplifying approvals, and revitalizing closed industrial units across Tripura.

New Industrial Projects Launched: Several new industrial projects were launched to attract entrepreneurs, including units for manufacturing paper plates, rubber items, and electrical components.

Three New Industrial Areas Declared: The government has declared three new industrial areas in Bodhjungnagar Phase III, R.K. Nagar, and Dharmanagar to boost regional industrial growth.

Online Single Window Portal ‘SWAAGAT’: TIDC launched an upgraded online portal—SWAAGAT (Single Window Approval by All Government Agencies in Tripura)—to streamline approvals for entrepreneurs. It includes functionalities like application tracking, license/clearance issuance, online payments, and integration with central services like GST and UIDAI.

“Industrial Area Performance Ranking”: A new performance evaluation system has been implemented across industrial zones, with rankings released for 2023–24. The top three ranked areas received  ₹3 lakh each.

Revival of Closed Industrial Units: Of the 248 closed industrial units, 28 have already been revived with the goal of bringing more into operation. Four additional units are in the final stages of revival.

New Land Bank Policy and Land Allotments: The government allotted 45 acres of land for industrial development across Bodhjungnagar, R.K. Nagar, and Dharmanagar.

Creation of Urban Planning Authority: The Department of Industries has declared TIDC as the Urban Planning and Development Authority for industrial areas to ensure better infrastructure and compliance.

Increased Revenue from Industrial Rentals and Loans: Lease rent increased from ₹5.27 crore (2022–23) to ₹6.20 crore (2023–24). Land revenue increased from ₹2.50 crore to ₹4.02 crore in the same period. Loan recovery rose from ₹2.20 crore to ₹4.04 crore.

ADB-Backed Mega Infrastructure Projects: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a ₹575.25 crore loan for infrastructure development in six industrial areas. This includes construction of approach roads, 24×7 power systems, water supply, drainage, effluent treatment plants, and centralized networks like fire stations, skill centres, and command centres.

MSME Ministry Funding Proposal: A proposal worth ₹55 crore has been submitted to the Union MSME Ministry for further development of the state’s industrial zones.

Industry Zones Identified for Expansion: Development activities are planned in four major industrial zones—Durgapur, Dharmanagar, Lalcherra (Ambassa), and Fatiksagar (Kumarghat).

This comprehensive push marks a significant step toward positioning Tripura as an emerging industrial hub in the Northeast, focusing on sustainable development, ease of doing business, and grassroots-level entrepreneurship.
