Agartala, October 13, 2025: The Tripura Left Front on Sunday launched a fierce attack on the state government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order, promoting administrative bias, and undermining democratic rights across the state.
At a press conference held at Dasharath Deb Smriti Bhavan in Melarmath, Left Front Convener and former minister Manik Dey was joined by RSP state secretary Dipak Deb, CPI state secretary Milan Baidya, Forward Bloc leader Paresh Sarkar, and former minister Naresh Jamatia.
Addressing reporters, Dey alleged that he was obstructed while travelling to attend a wedding ceremony in Jirania, citing the incident as a glaring example of administrative negligence. “The safety of ordinary citizens is under threat due to the failure of the administration. I had to return midway as there was no security assurance,” he stated.
He further claimed that attempts to contact the local MLA and minister went unanswered, reflecting the “apathy of those in power.” Dey said the situation exposes a “widespread collapse of law and order” under the current regime.
The Left leaders accused the government of running a partisan administration, saying it favors ruling party workers while neglecting public welfare. Former minister Naresh Jamatia lashed out at the State Election Commission, alleging that it “has lost its neutrality and is functioning as an arm of the ruling party.”
The leaders also condemned the suspension of MGNREGA and TUEP works ahead of the Durga Puja festival, arguing that it has deepened the suffering of poor and working-class citizens.
“The BJP government is indulging in communal and divisive politics, while some Bengali organizations are conducting provocative programmes that threaten Tripura’s social harmony,” said Dey.
Reaffirming the Left Front’s commitment to peace and unity, Dey warned that “deliberate attempts to divide communities pose a serious danger to Tripura’s democratic and social fabric.”
The Left Front urged the state government to take urgent measures to restore peace, protect democratic rights, and ensure equal treatment for all citizens.
