Union Minister George Kurian Lays Foundation For Two PMJVK Projects In Mizoram

Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, George Kurian laid the foundation stone for two development projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) in Siaha district on Wednesday. The ceremony was conducted virtually and attended by various dignitaries.

The event was held at the MADC Golden Jubilee Hall. Two MLAs from the district—Dr K Beichhua and K Hrahmo—also participated virtually.

During his address, the Union Minister emphasized the Central Government’s vision of Vikshit Bharat 2047, aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by the centenary of its independence. He noted that the Northeastern states, particularly Mizoram, have seen notable development under current central leadership, and expressed confidence that the new projects would significantly benefit the people of Siaha.

The foundation was laid for the following projects:

1. Construction of a Public Market cum Multipurpose Centre and Women Facilitation Centre at Tipa V, Siaha District.

2. Construction of a Multipurpose Community Hall in Siaha District.

Dr K Beichhua, MLA from 39-Saiha (ST) Assembly Constituency and President of the BJP’s Mizoram unit, along with MADC Chief Executive Member M Laikaw, expressed gratitude to the Centre for its commitment to uplifting minority and marginalized communities.

The programme was presided over by Siaha Additional Deputy Commissioner Abraham Beirazi Khithie and was attended by officials from both the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) and the Mizoram state government.
