GNM & ANM Nursing schools of Health Training & Research Centre (HTRC), along with the Nursing staff of Bakin Pertin General Hospital &Training Centre, Pasighat, in collaboration with Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI), State Branch, Arunachal Pradesh took out a candlelight rally from BPGH to Gandhi Chowk this evening (Tuesday) to renew their pledge to serve the world as a whole. The event marked the 200th Birth Anniversary of “The Lady with the Lamp” Florence Nightingale who is a familiar historical figure being the pioneer of Modern nursing.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated the year 2020 as the “Year of the Nurse and Midwife” in honor of Florence Nightingale for strengthening universal health coverage around the world, informed MS (BPGH) Dr. YR Darang in her brief address. She exhorted nurses to be efficient, kind and sincerity in taking care of patients.

Principal GNM Natel Jamoh, VP Aruna Chaudhuri, Principal ANM Bamin Yaje, Metron Y. Zirdo Dabi and teaching faculties of nursing schools also participated in the rally. Earlier, while addressing the nursing students in the hospital premise, they said that the nurses play a very crucial role in saving people’s lives. They improve, protect and promote the health and well-being of the patients and help them heal. Students should follow the path shown by Nightingale, whether it is a birth, death, emergency or any ongoing care.
