Pasighat is to host Senior Women’s National Football Championship in September 10-30 this year here in the newly constructed Pasighat stadium. According to official source, thirty teams comprising seven hundred players and sports officials across India will take part in the championship.

To chalk-out a plan smooth conduct of the historic event in a grand manner, East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Kinny Singh convened coordination meeting with the state and district sports officials, admin officers and HoDs in the office conference hall on Monday. State Coordinator and Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) Orin Lego and Kipa Ajay respectively, DSO (Sports) Nada Apa and other sports officials General Jamoh and Tamat Gamoh briefed the DC about requirements and challenges.

After patient hearing on various issues/facilities and effective management of medical, security, water and power supplies, development of ground, transport etc the DC Singh urged the sports officials and head of offices to submit their requirements/proposals/estimates etc in a proper manner immediately so that those could be forwarded to the state’s authority for providing of required fund etc. The tournament is meant to provide an opportunity to the participating Indian teams in a competitive format but for us in particular it would an opportunity to show our hospitability, ability, culture and effort to encourage the new generation towards games and sports. She while assuring to leave no stone unturned to make the national level football tourney successful, has expressed hope that such mega event would also promote tourism and hotel industry/home-stay etc in the district.
