Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, declared plethora of improvisations and reformations in the health sector of the state at the ongoing Assembly session.

The facilities include, blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, ICUs etc. The scheme is scheduled to be launched on Thursday, May 11, 2017, by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the Administrative Staff College, Khanapara, Guwahati.

The government announced free X-ray at 500 government hospitals. However, it will start from 35 locations initially. In addition to this, 60 types of blood tests would be made free in the government hospitals.

In order to ensure quality services, the government plans to outsource the services to private parties. Due to academic reason, these free diagnostic services will not available in the medical colleges, though in government hospitals, the facilities could be availed.
