After, Arunachal Pradesh, the national cultural festival of India—’Rashtriya Sanskrit Mahotsav’ has begun in Dimapur. The festival has been organized by the Ministry of Culture in association with North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Dimapur.

“The event would preserve, promote and popularize the rich cultural heritage of the country and reconnect the new generation,” said Dimapur NEZCC Director-in-charge, Om Prakash Bharti said.

During the festival, about 5,000 artistes from Northeast India and 2,000 artistes from across the country will showcase the country’s history and tradition through dance, music, theatre and puppetry.

“A ‘Sanskritik Yatra’ is also being organized during the festival in which artistes will meet and interact with several communities residing in the villages of Nagaland leading to cultural exchange,” informed Bharti.

Besides Dimapur, the festival will be held at Majuli (Assam), Khowai (Tripura), Imphal, Aizawl, Gangtok and Shillong.
