Northeast Dancing Star competition has been announced as a platform to showcase hidden talents of this neglected region to match steps with Dance and Song Idol competitions, which have turned a nationwide craze.

This was decided during a meeting with event coordinators of eight NE states, convened by organizer Floret Infotech, Arunachal Pradesh coordinator Arupa Das said. Referring to Dance Plus 4 winner Chetan Salunkhe who pocketed Rs 25 lakh prize money recently, she told this daily that the maiden event is a talent hunt television show for aspiring talents in the field to offer them the much need mileage and exposure to rise to a higher pedestal in the entertainment world.

Arupa, running Aastha Dance Academy (ADA) in Naharlagun since 2008, said that the ongoing registration will continue till March  31 next before general audition in April at Suiliguri, Silchar and Itanagar (April 28). The next (March 1 and April 30) for audition in May at Dimapur, Imphal and Agartala; registration (Apr 1 to May 31) for June audition at Shillong & Guwahati followed by mega audition at Guwahati on July 6 and two elimination rounds there for the grand finale at Guwahati on July 20 next, she added.

Arupa, with a pedigree B. Music in Kathak, trained in modern dance and Bharat Natyam, has been chosen for this job because her students have created many milestones, including state’s only representative in Naach Challenge-2009, five-time winners of Statehood Day competition (2014 to 2018), three were winners in Dance Bangla Dance-2018 and two others won in Dance ka Manch, 2018.
