Sarbananda Launches Mobile App for Majuli

In a move to bring the largest river island Majuli at the tip of finger, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal unveiled an android mobile application for disseminating information on Satriya culture, Mising culture, Carbon Registry, inputs on hotels, transport, lodges, car mechanic, car rentals and all information regarding district administration etc of Majuli.

Sonowal also participated in a function christened Making of Developed India (Modi) fest organised at Garmurh in Majuli. The programme, popularly known as Modi Fest, was organised to showcase the achievements of the NDA Government at the Centre in the last three years, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said in the last three years the NDA Government under the leadership of Modi launched several welfare measures to bring all sections of the people in the schemes of things. Referring to NDA’s pet programme ‘Jan Dhan Scheme’ wherein all the people belonging to economically backward classes were brought to the banking fold, Sonowal said the system has led to direct transfer of government subsidies without the presence of any middle man.

Sonowal also said Modi’s decision on demonetisation has had a cascading effect to wipe out black money and corruption. Moreover, demonetisation has expedited digital transaction and created a deterrent against corruption in the country. In the post demonetisation period, Assam Government has enabled eight lakh tea workers to open their bank accounts which would again help them to have direct access to the benefits of different government subsidies. He appealed to all sections of the people to extend their cooperation towards successful implementation of the schemes for the welfare of all and sundry.

MP Pradan Barua, MLAs Bimal Bora, Ranuj Pegu, Chairman of Duliajan-Numaligarh Pipeline Limited Rupam Goswami, Member Secretary, State Sports and Youth Welfare, Lakhya Konwar and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
