Sikkim is all set to celebrate Losoong-Namsoong festival, the harvest festival of the State’s ethnic Bhutia and Lepcha communities.

Losoong is a traditional festival of the Bhutias, but the Lepchas also celebrate it and call it Namsoong.
The festival symbolises attachment of the people with Mother Nature and celebrates the agricultural New Year with farmers rejoicing their harvest.

Cham dance and archery contests are among the major attractions of the festival. Kagyed dance is also performed in Buddhist monasteries across Sikkim on this occasion.

Governor Ganga Prasad and Chief Minister PS Golay wished the people of the State on the occasion of Losoong-Namsoong. The Governor appealed to the people to reinforce harmony and brotherhood while Golay wished happiness, good health and joy to the people of the State.
