Sikkim Warms up for 3rd International Day of Yoga

Students, police personnel, and various organisations came together at Palzor Stadium in Gangtok on Sunday for the final rehearsal of the State level Celebration of 3rd International Day of Yoga event to be held at the same venue on 21st June.

The rehearsals were coordinated by officers of the AYUSH wing of the State Health Department along with officials from the HRDD. The students were accompanied by their faculty members and yoga trainers. Each organisation was represented by concerned officers. Officers of line departments extended necessary support to ensure that all aspects were taken care of for the rehearsal as well as for the final event.

It may be mentioned here that the common yoga protocol comprising fifteen yoga postures, pranayam and meditation designed by the Ministry of AYUSH Government of India is being followed. On 21st June the Yoga Protocol will commence throughout the country at 7am. Over 2600 participants are expected to participate in the mass yoga demonstration on the International Day of Yoga event at Palzor Stadium.

The State level event will be graced by Sikkim Governor Shriniwas Patil as the Chief Guest, and Chief Minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling as the Guest of Honour.

Yoga demonstrations will be organized simultaneously at all District Headquarters, and various other Government establishments throughout the State.
