The residence of the Home Secretary of Hmar People’s Convention (Democracy), an entity of the tripartite talks with the state and central Government was allegedly attacked last night by some unknown armed miscreants in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.

 

The unknown armed miscreants had allegedly attacked the residence of the HPC (D) Home Secretary, Michael and his civilian brother Rouchungnung residence at Rengkai in Churachandpur district with arms.

 

Bullet marks were seen on the GI Sheet roof of the building and on the residential building concrete wall. However, no casualty was reported in the incident.

 

HPC (D), the Hmar People’s Convention (Democracy) is a signatory of Suspension of Operation under United People’s Front (UPF), one of the umbrella organization of the Kuki UGs under Suspension of Operation and an entity of the tripartite talks with the state and central Government.

 

Meanwhile, the United People’s Front (UPF), the conglomerate of several Kuki UGs group under SoO including HPC (D) has condemned the attacked in the strongest term.

 

UPF Information and Publicity Secretary, Thanglenlal Doungel said that UPF is indignant at the unprecedented attack of the residence of Michael, Home Secretary of HPC (D), Hmar People’s Convention-Democracy and his innocent civilian brother Rouchungnung residence at Rengkai in Churachandpur last night.

 

He also said that the unidentified armed miscreants had fired several rounds of the bullets at the residence where bullet marks were seen on the GI Sheet roof and on the wall of the residences but fortunately no one was injured in the attacked.

 

While condemning the incident at the highest form the UPF said that such act of violence against SoO group members and civilians and any violence of any forms at this crucial juncture in the peace process could be detrimental to our cause.

 

It further urges one and all to shun violence and actively embark on the peace process.
