BJP never supports the demand of separate Twipraland state and is convinced that for development of the state, the division of the state is not necessary, this was said by BJP’s Janajati Morcha leader Jishnu Debbarma.

Addressing a press conference, Debbarma alleged that rail and road blockade of IPFT since July 10 is supported, financed and sponsored by CPI (M) led Left Front government in Tripura.

“The path chosen by IPFT demanding separate state is not good in a small state like Tripura and division of state will never lead to development,” stated Debbarma adding, “BJP demands for state council in ADC areas of Tripura.”

In support of their demand for up-gradation of TTAADC into Tripura Tribal Autonomous State Council (TTAASC) to give more autonomy and to protect the distinctive socio-cultural identity of indigenous people of Tripura, the state unit of BJP had submitted a memorandum before Faggan Singh Kulaste , Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare during his state visit.

Criticizing the role of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Debbarma mentioned, “Being the home minister of the state, Sarkar can ask the IPFT leaders for a meeting and reach a solution. But he is acting as a silent spectator.”

He alleged that the state government is entirely responsible for the IPFT’s movement due to the misrule of Left front government.

“The government has nexus with IPFT and is hatching conspiracy across the state. The large section of deprived tribal people of the state organized the blockade movement and they have been cheated in the name of development in ADC areas during the regime of Left Front government. The 28 MDCs of ADC areas and 19 MLAs of LF government never urged for development of tribal people in Tripura and it is the main reason for rising of separate state demand.”
