Two days state level training programme on “Climate Change and Global Warming” was organised by Earth Friendly Generation (EFG), Nagaland and Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi on 10th and 11th Oct 2019 at Northern Angami Youth Organization (N.A.Y.O) Conference Hall, Chiephobozou Town, Kohima, Nagaland. Akangmeren Imchen, Scientist ‘B’ from Nagaland Pollution Control Board was the special guest.

Addressing the participants, Imchen spoke about the pollution in Nagaland and a media presentation was shown on various pollution which creates problem in the state. He stated that various dumping site in the State creates landslide and even more pollution when the waste are burned. Besides, he also encourages the participants to put more importance on eco-friendly products rather than the use of market products which are really harmful for our environment and to our health. He encouraged the participants to never forget their roots and continue with their hard work to create a peaceful environment. He emphasised on single use plastic in the state which is the biggest and common threat to our aquatic animal and requested the trainees to go for alternative solutions. In his concluding note he stressed on the need of better environment for our survival.

Vineizo Tsiirho, General Secretary of Chiephobozou Town Council in his message said about the ozone depletion which is at high risk for all the living being.

Director of Earth Friendly Generation EFG, Keduolhoukho Chadi in his welcome note requested all the participants to support this global move to fight against the Climate Change and Global Warming. He emphasised on the purposed of Earth Friendly Generation and its initiative towards preserving our environment in the state and also set a new trend to work on eco-friendly products like leaf plates, leaf cups, leaf bowls etc. He concluded his note saying every individual should take a step forward and make our future generation a better place to live.

Shri. Rajeev Nirmal, Programe Officer from Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK) stated that this state level training program is a way to create an awareness among the people in the state of Nagaland though compering to our micro city like Delhi, Nagaland has a good climate however a city like Delhi has air pollution and people living in the city has faced a problem of getting quality air. He also cited, seeing the active participation of different stakeholders to fight against the Climate Change and Global Warming motives him to be more active in working for better environment.

During the two days state level training programme, Dzüvichüü Chadi and Avinuo Ziephrü from Naga Hub Centre took a session for the participants on how to make plate, cup, and bowl using banana leaf. They were also given training on paper bags.

A total of 121 participants from Government Department, NGOs, CBOs, and SHGs attended the training programme.
