Guwahati–North Guwahati Bridge To Open In February 2026: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma outlined several major infrastructure projects in the state. Four new bridges over the Brahmaputra River are under construction, and the Guwahati–North Guwahati bridge is set to open in February.

PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the 32-km Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, estimated at Rs 6,957 crore, on January 17 or 18. A twin-tube underwater tunnel connecting Gohpur to Numaligarh, serving both road and rail traffic, has been approved at a cost of Rs 22,000 crore.

In February, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the proposed Gelephu railway line. An elevated corridor near Guwahati airport and a 68-acre Aerocity are planned.

A new modern hospital at Guwahati Medical College, costing Rs 2,200 crore, will replace the existing facility, following an MoU signed with the Asian Development Bank. The 120 MW Kopili hydro project is also expected to be inaugurated soon.
