Union Minister Blames Left for Huge BPL Numbers in Tripura

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Anant Geete claimed that 67 percent of the total population fell under the BPL in Tripura. Stating it as a failure of the Left government in the state, Geete said that the the Left Front government kept the door of development locked in state for last 23 years.

Addressing two ‘Vikas Parv’ rallies organized as part of Modi Government’s second anniversary in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala and Matabari market ground in Udaipur, Geete reiterating the development works done by the BJP-led government in last two years and said that there is no graft charge against the NDA government since it assumed office two years back. The Minister further proclaimed that 100 percent amount sanctioned by the Centre has now started reaching the states after Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated direct benefit transfer for providing various schemes.

Geete also talked about the Jan Dhan Yojana introduced by the government at its first year and said that altogether 22.80 crore new zero-balance accounts were opened under this scheme till date. He further said that nearly about one crore people belong to middle-class and rich families across the country made a positive response to the appeal of Prime Minister to stop taking subsidized LPG cylinders. As a result, the needy families are now getting subsidized LPG cylinders properly, he asserted.

In his one day visit to the state, the minister was accompanied by state BJP president Biplab Kumar Deb and state prabhari Sunil Deodhar in both the rallies. The BJP state president in his speech said that the development has been stalled in state for last 23 years only because of 60 MLAs who eye their own interest. The minister also talked of setting up at least one heavy industry in each of the Northeastern states.
