In a major operation against insurgency activities, the Assam Rifles have recently confiscated a large stash of weapons and explosives from Mizoram’s Aizawl district and apprehended four offenders associated with this haul.
Based on specific inputs, the paramilitary troop intercepted two vehicles near Kelsih hamlet and recovered the cache of arms and ammunition, including 3,000 kgs of gelatine sticks.
The security forces have also seized three shotguns, five rifles, 20 boxes of pellets, 100 kg of gunpowder.
According to a statement issued by the troop, the usage of such war-like stores may have put innocent people in danger and led to a slew of unlawful acts.
“This recovery has saved the lives of many people. All anti-national activists have suffered a significant setback as a result of this operation; and the accomplishment of the operation would go a long way toward restoring peace and harmony.” – the statement further added.
