Hima Das, India’s celebrated sprinter, will mark her return to the track at the Indian Grand Prix 1 in Bengaluru after receiving clearance from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).
The 24-year-old athlete was provisionally suspended by NADA last year for three whereabouts failures within 12 months.
However, a recent hearing by the NADA Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel granted her the green signal to compete again.
Despite the clearance, details regarding the panel’s decision remain undisclosed.
Hima Das, hailing from Assam, clinched a silver medal in the 400m individual event at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. She was also instrumental in securing gold and silver medals for India in the women’s 4x400m and mixed 4x400m relay events, respectively.
Her absence from the Hangzhou Asian Games team last year was attributed to an injury sustained earlier in the year.
Moreover, Hima’s last competitive race was at the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru in April last year, where she secured gold in the 200m event with a time of 23.77 seconds.
However, she missed the entire 2023 season due to her suspension.
The athlete’s return to competition signifies a fresh start as she aims to overcome past setbacks and make a triumphant comeback on the track.
Her participation in the Indian Grand Prix 1 is eagerly awaited by fans and enthusiasts alike as she resumes her journey towards sporting excellence.
