Assam Government Declares Localised Public Holidays On Lok Sabha Polling dates

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Assam government has announced localized public holidays in respective constituencies during the three-phase electoral process.

The decision, issued through an order of the governor, entails public holidays on April 19, 26, and May 7, aligning with the polling dates in specific areas as per the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881.

The first phase of polling, scheduled for April 19, will encompass five constituencies: Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur.

Additionally, Voting will take place in Nagaon, Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu (ST), Silchar (SC) and Karimganj during the second phase on April 25.

Finally, on May 7, the 3rd phase of polling will encompass Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Guwahati constituencies.

With the stage set for a heated electoral contest, anticipation mounts as voters prepare to exercise their democratic rights in shaping the future trajectory of Assam’s political landscape.
